David Rogers passed away in Baytown, Texas on April 9, 2019 at the age of 84. David was born on October 17, 1934 in Anderson County, Texas to the union of Dave Rogers and Clarice Rhodes. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Jim Kelley. He is survived by his daughter Melinda Leiper and her husband David; grandsons, Macon Leiper and Gray Leiper; sisters Ramona Kelley, Rosemary Dinwiddie and her husband Harry, as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
David and his family moved to Baytown when he was in the 4th grade. He attended and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1953. He went on to attend Lee College, and Sam Houston State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Education. During the time he spent in college, he discovered his passion for flying. It was also during this time that he was called to serve in the United States Army.
After his time spent in the service and college graduation he began investing in many business ventures. His first being a Phillips 66 service station in Huntsville, TX. He made his way back to Baytown where he opened a Tasty Freeze and eventually added a second location. He obtained a Realtor’s license, and Real Estate Brokers License and served as president of the Baytown Board of Realtors. He developed 2 subdivisions in Baytown, which included Parkridge Bend. Along with residential development, he also constructed numerous commercial buildings. He was a respected entrepreneur and also served on the board of the Baytown YMCA.
One of his many business included Arrow Ready Mix, Texas Sports Ranch in Crosby, and C&R Flying Services. He owned numerous planes, and had many friends within the flying community. Throughout his life his most treasured passion was flying. He was delighted to provide medical and angel flights transportation for medical patients and life saving organs. After his retirement he continued flying.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Navarre Funeral Home, with funeral services to begin at 10:00 am. Interment will take place on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm in Olive Branch Cemetery, Brushy Creek, TX. Preceding interment there will be a celebration of life reception at his family church home, Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in Pert, TX.
