David Shelby

David Shelby, 69, of Baytown, passed away Wednesday August 9, 2017 at a Houston area hospital. He was born in Baytown, May 13, 1948. He was an avid Gander fan and was a member of the R.E.L. class of 1966 where he was involved in cross country sports. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church of Baytown. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He would always turn his entire backyard into his garden. From his vegetables, he would make the best sauces, salsa, and pickles and always giving them away to his friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed watching sports, he loved the Texans and spent every Sunday watching NASCAR. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Malvalee Shelby; and sister, Mary Louise Shelby.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Bennie Shelby of Baytown; children, Clint Shelby and wife, Kelly of Round Rock, and Stephanie Shelby of Baytown; grandchildren, Lindsey Hamilton, Ashley Shelby, Jaxon Shelby, and Azlyn Shelby; brother, James Shelby and wife, Kathy of Baytown; mother-in-law, Johnnie Gresham; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved dachshund, Sookie.

The family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday August 12, 2017. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Mark Davis.
