

Dois ""Gene"" Speer, 67, of Beach City was born December 10, 1942 in El Campo and passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 in a Baytown hospital. He was a member of Mont Belvieu United Methodist Church and was a U. S. Navy veteran. He retired from ExxonMobil Chemical as a shift superintendent with over 30 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Mable Laverne and Benjamin Otha Swain. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann ""Pat"" Speer; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Stephanie Speer and Rodney and Leslie Speer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack Lee and Opal Speer, Marvin and Margaret Speer and Forrest Glenn ""Pogee"" and Sally Speer; grandchildren, Cameron, Hayden, Ryan and Abby Speer; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda Brent and Jackie and Tommy Braneff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, January 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Lea officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Langford, Glen Speer, Arnie Speer, John Leslie Speer, Bryan Hash, Matt Stratmann, John Phipps and Kevin Trousdale. Honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Herrod.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to West Chambers Food Pantry, PO BOX 530, Mont Belvieu, TX 77580.
