Donald Ray Brown, 68, known to many as “Boog”, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 following complications from a long-term illness. Donald was born November 28, 1938 in Liberty, Texas and lived most of his adult life in the Winnie, Anahuac and Baytown areas. He was a rice farmer for more than 40 years and was a member of Eminence Baptist Church in Wallisville.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Burrell Brown and his father, Charles Stafford Brown, both of Devers.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Robin Varner Brown and daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Jason Welch. His two grandchildren, William Cade and Morgan Jace Welch, ages 10 and 5 were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brothers and their families, Bill Brown, James “Skip” Brown and Gary Brown; his sisters and their families, Betty Morgan, Barbara Parrish, Mary Sprayberry, Nonie Quinn-Beniot and Emma Morgan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday, July 8, 2007 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be Monday, July 9, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Baytown with Pastor Richard Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
