She was born in Houston on July 8, 1926. Her parents were Claudie and Jimmy Lisher. She had no siblings and her father died when she was 3 years old. She was mainly raised by her beloved grandmother Eula Mae Roark.
Dorothy graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1945. She and Johnnie were married while he was attending college at Texas A&M University. She was employed as a secretary to the college English department.
Dorothy was a long-time member of Grace United Methodist Church and Cedar Bayou Grace United Methodist Church, the Homemakers class, and various committees and boards.
She enjoyed sewing, was an avid reader, played bridge, member of The 39 Study Club, and a hospital and museum volunteer. For many years she enjoyed aerobic dancing and exercise at the YMCA. She collected many teddy bears throughout her life.
Besides loving all her family, she and Johnnie always had dogs that they dearly loved and enjoyed.
Dorothy was survived by her husband Johnnie of 73 years, two children Susan Denise Busch Higgins and Albert Johnnie Busch III, their spouses James Higgins and Deborah Welch Busch, 4 grandchildren Stefanie Higgins Redmile, Dr. Katherine Higgins Peden, Lindsey Busch Baker and John Michael Busch, and 5 great grandchildren Reese and Aiden Baker, James Redmile and Charles and Sylvie Peden along with her dogs Lee and Honey.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, July 24th at 10am in the Alexander Chapel at Cedar Bayou Grace Methodist Church with Reverend Jim Welch officiating. The burial will immediately follow in Cedar Crest Cemetery.
