

Dorothy Louise Gierisch Lyons, 77, passed peacefully on the 28th of December, 2010 in Baytown, TX. She was born February 5, 1933 in Grit, Mason County, TX to Edmund George Gierisch, Sr. and Elsie Wilhelmine Schneider Gierisch. Dorothy married William Edward Lyons on September 2, 1950 and entered into a long, loving, and supporting marriage of 60 years during which they had three children and were active in the community in and around Baytown. Before retirement in 1995, Mrs. Lyons began her career in the banking industry but found her true calling as a teacher in Crosby ISD earning Elementary Teacher-of-the-Year award and being named in the ""Who's Who"" of academics.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Willie Mae Benson; and brothers, Edmund Gierisch, Jr. and Ernest Gierisch, Jr. Mrs. Lyons is survived by her husband, William E. ""Bill"" Lyons; children, Becky Lyons Stewart, of Baytown; Randall D. ""Randy"" Lyons and wife, Melissa, of Seabrook; Macey Hart and husband, Brett, Sr., of Flower Mound; grandchildren, Heather Singletary Craig, Christopher William Stewart, Joseph Preston Lyons, Jerit Michael Lyons, Jacob Dylan Lyons, Samantha Nicole Lyons, Brett Marion Hart, Jr., and Bradley Hayden Hart; and great-grandchildren, Kaylyn Renee Craig and Alexis Nicole Stewart; sister, Mary Pauline Beam of Mason and Emma Lucille Burch of Pasadena; brothers, William Gierisch, Sr. of Cotulla, Johnny Gierisch, Sr. of North Zulch, Carl Gierisch of Roanoke, and Dorman Gierisch of Hurst; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald Lee ""Ron"" and Bonnie Lyons of Baytown.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Navarre Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad Hoffmann officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Preston Lyons, Mark Lyons, Carl Gierisch Jr., Greg Bond, Jeff Inman, and Craig Crawford.
