

Dr. Arnold H. Johnson, 80, of Baytown passed away Monday, March 16, 2009. He was born April 28, 1928 in Damon, TX. Arnold will be remembered as a loving father and husband. He lived in Baytown for 38 years where he was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir for 10 years.
He attended his junior year in Baytown at Robert E. Lee High School and graduated from Yakima Valley High School in Washington in 1945. He went on to graduate from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, IA in 1949 before being drafted in 1950. He served in the 45th Infantry Division of the U. S. Army during the Korean War from which he received an honorable discharge in 1953. He then attended Yakima Valley Junior College Arnold, graduating in 1955. He was a member of the Texas Lone Star Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association.
In the 70's and 80's he was a member of the Baytown Optimist Club. He acted as the Secretary and Treasurer and was honored as the Optimist of the Year in 1973 and 1974. He enjoyed running and participated in several racing events as well as completing The Woodlands Marathon in 1983. Arnold enjoyed the theatre and performed in productions with the Yakima Little Theatre in Washington, Baytown Little Theatre and also in the Red Stocking Revue.
He recently retired from Chiropractic service in which he practiced in Baytown for 35 years. He taught as a professor at the Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena in the 80's and on into the early 90's.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Genhard and Agnes Johnson and sisters, Merle Johnson, Viola Cutler and Thelma Richards. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeannine; sons and daughter-in-law, Brent and Jan Johnson and Bryan Johnson; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Robert Slavens and Julie and Jeff Napier; brother, Harold Johnson; sisters, Bernice Baillie and Janie Tackett; and grandchildren, Eric, Greg, Stephen, Leah, Cody and Camille.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Hoffmann officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Johnson, Dale Baillie Jr., Skip Johnson, Eric Johnson, Greg Johnson and Stephen Slavens.
