

Duke was a baseball player at heart. He started his baseball career as a pitcher for Robert E. Lee high school and was then scouted to play for Sam Houston College where he had a full ride scholarship. He then went on to pitch for the United States Army the year they won the World Series in Germany. Upon returning to the states, he played professionally for the Baltimore Orioles' farm team. After baseball he devoted his time to his family and the local furniture business that he owned. He was a loving husband and father and always there for his family. You will never find anyone more loyal and devoted to his family, friends and his business than Duke.
Surviving family members include his loving wife, Frances Jones; son, Duke Wayne Jones and wife, Lori; daughter, Kimberly Miller-Smith and very special son-in-law, Edward Smith; grandsons, D.J. Jones and wife, Tara and Dalton Lee Miller; granddaughter, Morgan Jones and Fiancé Cody Riley; his very special great-granddaughter Kyleigh Nicole Jones; siblings David, Ellen, and Linda; cousin, Jon; brother-in-law, Albert Bryan and his very best friend of many years, Johnny Williams, Fred Dittmen, David Evans, Darwin Gesford, Lynn Gray, Gary Harrington, J.W. Bain, Sonny Hamm, Tami Spencer, Betty Saenz and Bridget Fruge.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30th, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m, at Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Navarre on Friday, March 31st, 2017, at 10 a.m., with burial immediately following at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
