

Durwood James Whiddon, 85, of Beach City was born September 10, 1932, in Wrightsboro, TX and passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was a machinist by trade but a cowboy and true outdoorsman at heart. He enjoyed his cattle, horses, and donkeys. He loved to fish and at one time had his own shrimp boat. He was a family man and friend to all. He was a prankster who enjoyed teasing neighbors in his Beach City neighborhood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Pearl Whiddon; brothers, J. L. Whiddon and Melvin Whiddon; and sisters, Maxine Gentry, Janice Kooi, and Mary Jo Fikes Reamer. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rose Marie Whiddon; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Connie Whiddon; daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Kenneth Bartkowiak and Cindy and Dewey Wright; grandchildren, Steven Whiddon, Carrie Whiddon, Katie Baumbach, Michael Bartkowiak, Darrell Bartkowiak, Jason Bartkowiak, Kacie Wright, and Cody Wright; seven great grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Daisy.
His family will receive friends Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Navarre Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Dan Foley officating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Bartkowiak, Darrell Bartkowiak, Jason Bartkowiak, Steven Whiddon, Sam Beasley, Creg Gentry, and Rodney Fikes.
