

He was born December 12, 1927, at home, in Marshall, Texas, to Emanuel Allen Prince and Dona Eudora (Donie) Fyffe. He grew up in Marshall, and was a graduate of Marshall High School, where he played football and the trumpet in band. He continued his academic career at Kilgore Jr. College, and was a member of their 1946 Jr. College Champion football squad that played in the 1946 Jr. Rose Bowl. Later, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was stationed at Perrin AFB, near Sherman, TX, where he played in the band. He met his wife Annie Lee Hunt during this time, and they were married in Marshall on Feb. 1, 1949. The couple moved to Houston, where he attended the University of Houston. Mr. Prince worked for Cameron Iron Works, the U.S. Post Office in Houston & Longview, sold insurance, cars, encyclopedias, and owned a small cafe. The family moved to Baytown in 1970, when he got a job at US Steel. He was a manager of Lloyd's Medical Equipment in Baytown, and the Pool and Fireplace Store in North Shore. After retiring, he enjoyed his family, genealogy, fishing, and gardening. He always said his success was his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, his brother, Richard Galen Prince; his cat, Willie. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and William Stegall of Dayton; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ruth Ann Prince of Friendswood; grandchildren, William Coady Stegall and wife Stacey of Old River, and Marshall Prince of Friendswood; great grandchildren, Tanner Stephens and William Robert Stegall; step-great grandson, Damion Mullins.
There will be no visitation. The family will have a private burial at White Cemetery in Highlands.
