Edna was the eighth child born to Canary Hill Bradley and James Barnes Bradley, Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur Royce Moyer, Sr., as well as all seven of her siblings and their spouses.
She is survived by her beloved children, her daughter Sharon and her son Royce, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. She also held the joyful distinction of being a great-great-great aunt multiple times.
Born in Orangefield, Texas, Edna spent much of her childhood in Opelousas, Louisiana. During her senior year of high school, she returned to Texas and graduated from Big Sandy High School near Livingston. Her passion for education led her to Sam Houston State Teacher’s College, where she completed her degree in just three years. She later returned to earn her master’s degree from the same institution.
Edna devoted 32 years of her life to education, serving as a Physical Education teacher at Horace Mann Junior High and Stephen F. Austin Elementary. She was also a swimming instructor for three summers at Camp Waldemar in Hunt, Texas. Her love of teaching and children extended beyond the school day, as she offered swimming lessons at her home during the summers. Education was deeply important to Edna, a value she instilled in her children, both of whom went on to become educators.
A devoted and loving mother, Edna ensured Sharon and Royce experienced life fully. She used the proceeds from her swimming lessons to take her family on memorable vacations across the United States, ultimately traveling to 49 states during her lifetime. The Colorado Rockies held a special place in her heart, and as she grew older, she continued her love of travel by RV, enjoying the beauty of the country from the open road.
Edna embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. She was an avid camper who loved hiking trails, trout fishing in the Colorado mountains, bowling in a league with her friends, and—especially after retirement—dedicating herself to improving her golf game. She also found great joy in serving others, particularly through helping with the recreation portion of Vacation Bible School. Above all, she cherished her friendships and the many communities she was part of throughout her life.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Cedar Bayou Grace Methodist Church in Baytown, followed by the funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made in Edna’s name to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
