

Edward Lamar Smith, 84, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026. He was born in McCall Creek, Mississippi, on June 1, 1941, to the late Clifton and Hilda Lofton Smith. Lamar proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Spain. In 1967, Lamar married the love of his life, a young lady by the name of Venita Page. They spent the next 58 years together building a beautiful life together while raising their 2 daughters.
Lamar pursued many interests, some of which included tinkering in the garage, fishing, hunting, and working in the yard. In his younger days he also enjoyed racing where he loved the thrill of driving fast. Lamar was an avid sports fan with the Houston Astros being his favorite team. He also loved anything to do with the Rodeo, cowboys and horses. Lamar found pleasure in the simple things in life like staying home watching Westerns on the television or hanging out in the kitchen while cooking and sharing a good laugh.
Lamar was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Don Smith; and his fur baby Bandit. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his beloved Venita; his daughters Laura Strickland and husband Rick, and Karen Smith; his grandchildren Paige Haywood and husband Matt, and Thaine Tillie; his great-grandson Rhyder Brown; and his nieces and nephews; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521, on June 11, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the Funeral at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521, on June 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
