Edward Lee Taylor, of Highlands, passed away September 14, 2019, at the age of 72. Edward, also known as Honey, was born January 20, 1947 to Birch and Alpha Lee Taylor. He was a 1965 graduate of Robert E Lee High School, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston. Many will remember Ed from his career at Houston Lighting and Power before he retired in 2002.

He married Judy in 1969 and during their 50 years of marriage, raised 3 daughters, Shanna Downing, Sharon Taylor, and Leah Henderson, and gained 2 sons, Bobby Downing and Chris Henderson. His grandkids, Ryan and Brooke Downing and Corbitt and Wyatt Henderson will miss Honey greatly.

Later in life, Millie and Lloyd Scott graciously allowed Honey to add a “bonus” daughter, Tammi Scott, and “bonus” grands, Jessica and Alvaro Benavides, Ravo Scott, and Alex Scott. Kent and Sue Satterwhite, long time friends of Ed, also permitted him to add “bonus” daughter Kari Robinson, and husband Mike, to the family as well as “bonus” grands Kaitlyn, Grace, and John.

Ed also leaves behind brothers Norman Taylor, Jerry Taylor and wife Laneen, and sister in law Nita Taylor, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Wilma Bloodwell and brother, Douglas Taylor.

I always enjoyed working with Edward. His love for his Lord and family was obvious. He was also very quiet, but when he did say something, I learned to listen closely because he was almost always right. What a great man! My condolences to his family.

To Judy & Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Edward and I spent many hours working together at the Cedar Bayou Power Plant during the early 1970’s supporting start up and operations of the new units. He was a very capable, smart young engineer that I depended on daily and considered a friend. Rest In Peace Edward.

Oh the memories that flood my mind...our teen years of all the church young people getting together... Including Lowell Guidroz... And going to the haunted house in LaPorte and various singings at our area churches... Always the gentlemen and sensible one of the crew. You've kept the Faith and gone on ahead of us... We'll meet again some sweet day. Hugs and prayers for Judy and girls. Love you all so much!

Brother Eddie Taylor was always one of those “unassuming”, “steady-as-rock”, “pillars of the church” type of man, in the way I personally observed him to be, in our years of being fellow church members together. He was a quiet man, who never spoke many words, but whenever he did speak, it was something well worth lending your ear to, to hear what he had to say! You were always a very kind, gracious, loving and steadfast example of how a true Christian man should conduct himself. Rest In Heavenly Peace Until We Meet Again, Over On That Golden Shore, Brother Eddie~❤️🙏✝️

Ed, you have been a "family member" almost from the time you were born. What great times we had as young people and my memory of you as a sweet, gentle man will stay in my heart. Your precious wife and daughters are special to me.

I will always remember Ed Taylor as a kind and gentle person. He took our Wedding pictures back in 1974 and was simply the nicest to us. We will miss him. God bless his family.
