I just came across this obituary about Mrs. Muennink. I have sweet , fond memories of my home making class at Cedar Bayou Jr. High. Mrs. Muennink was quiet, gentle, and I still make those delicious ""Weiner Winks"". She is part of some wonderful memories..God Bless All of You.

Dear Muenninck Family, 
Mrs. M.  was my Home Ec teacher in the 7th grade at Cedar Bayou Jr. High 1965-66.  I hope you know that she is fondly remembered on the Baytown Remembers FaceBook sites (there are several of them) and that she touched many, many lives that in turn, touched many others.  She taught us basic cooking, cleaning and sewing, but also shared interesting tidbits about being wives and mothers and self-sufficient women.  I understand that she later taught a class for boys.  That was the year that Cedar Bayou was integrated.  She paired me with a young black girl named Cleophus.  Being the ONLY black child in the school was daunting and your Mom understood that.  She took me aside and asked if I had a problem with having her for a partner and I told her no.  She told me that it was my Christian duty to show her compassion and fairness, which of course, I already knew, but it struck me how concerned she was that I knew that.  There were some teachers at the school who were out and out racists, but your Mom was gracious and kind.  That's not to say she wouldn't jerk a knot in your tail if you didn't complete an assignment!  I have a picture of her at her desk in the old building.  She was scratching her chin and thinking of an answer to a particularly outrageous comment by one of the other students.  I later showed her the pic and she promised to haunt me if I ever passed it around.  LOL!  Anyway, we loved her and you should hold on the the thought that when someone is truly loved, they are never really gone.  God Bless.

I was so saddened to read about Elizabeth's death.She her sweet husband were my all time favorite people! I remember her from the hospital.May God Bless you all.

Memories of Mrs. Muennink have come to mind many times since she was my homemaking teacher at Cedar Bayou Junior High.  She was a wonderful lady. I still have the recipe file I made for her class and even made the chocolate sheet cake the weekend before she passed.

Nancy, I just found out about your mom, I am so sorry. You and your family will be in my prayers. I remember the years yall lived on Wilburn with us, then the years she taught at CBJH, lots of wonderful memories.

Mrs. Muennink was my mother's homemaking teacher and my homemaking teacher.  I still have the box of recipes I made for her class!  She taught valuable life lessons I used in my own teaching career.  I had the privilege of teaching her granddaughters at Horace Mann Jr.  I am very sorry for your loss.

I worked with Elizabeth at Cedar Bayou for twenty years, and we were great friends.  I always ate too many sausage balls at the open houses she held for the teachers.  I will miss her smiling face and her sweet, gentle ways.

I have fond memories of Mr. and Mrs. Muennink. They would have the Health Dept. over every February for homemade deer chili.  He would make the chili and she would set a formal table with the starched table cloth, napkins and alot of silverware.  There was always plenty rice, cheese, corn chips, onions.  We were always afraid that we were going to spill something on that tablecloth.  Those were the days,God love those two.

Elizabeth was my homemaking teacher at Cedar Bayou.  I was blessed to know her again as an adult through BHEA.  Many special memories.  God bless all of her family.

Donnie, I have many fond memories of your mom. She taught me to sew (I was a real challenge) and cook (cinnamon toast) and she was always sweet and kind. She made the first red velvet cake I ever tasted and my mother thought Elizabeth was a wonderful example for us all. My condolences to you and your family and God's peace upon you.

Mr. Muennick my prayers are with you during this hard time. Truly one of God's Heavenly angels is finally home. The love the two of you shared was like no other in the world. To be newlyweds for 69yrs is truly a special gift. Ms. Muennick was a kind, loving, thoughtful and amazing lady that I was blessed to get to know. Very sad to learn of Mrs. Muennink's passing.  I enjoyed many weekends in the home of Donnie's parents during my college days @ A&M. Baytown was a 2nd home for me. May God Bless your family and give you comfort.

I have wonderful memories of Mrs. Muennink from CBJH in the early 70's.  She taught me a lot in home ec. I was blessed to meet her again last year when she volunteered at the hospital where I work. We shared some laughs about my lack of sewing skills..lol.  God be with her family...she touched many lives.

I never knew Elizabeth except during her short stay at the Health Care Center.  She and Odis showed so much kindness to my mother Katherine (her roommate). So thank you.  Our heart goes out to the whole family for your great loss. We will miss Elizabeth and miss not seeing Odis everyday sitting  next to his ""bride"".

Prayers to the family!  I had Mrs. Muennink for Home Ec in the early 70s, and only wish I had taken that class a little more serious!  She was a wealth of good information and a kind lady.

So, so sorry for your loss. I have such wonderful memories of my days at CBJHS with Mrs. Muennink.  She has always held a special place in my heart.  I will always remember what a wonderful teacher and friend she was to me.  I have thought about her so many times over the years and will always admire the amazing person she was.

It was my priviledge to have known Elizabeth first through the SJMH volunteers, then Grace Methodist.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and exuded her Christian beliefs.  She will always stand tall in my memory. God bless all of you.

So sorry to hear of the passing of sweet Mrs. Muennink. She was my homemaking teacher at Cedar Bayou Junior High. I still have the original recipe box full of recipes from her class. She taught me a love for sewing that continues to this day. She came to see me in my hospital room many years ago. I've never forgotten her kindness or teaching. She is loved and will be missed.
