

Elsie Marie Kinsey, 88, a 48 year resident of Baytown, TX was born November 4, 1917 in Anahuac and passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006 in Remington Park. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Soloman Barrow Chapter, the Order of the Eastern Star, Brookshire Chapter, and the Goose Creek Country Club.
Elsie was a descendant of a pioneer Chambers County family. Her great grandfather was Charles Willcox, who received a Mexican Land Grant in the 1830’s. This land was where the town of Anahuac is now located.
She was preceded in death by her parents O. E. Willcox Sr. and Jettie Haven Willcox; brother and sister-in-law, O. E. Willcox Jr. and Louise Barrow Willcox; and sister and brother-in-law, Waurine L. Willcox Pepper and Clyde A. Pepper. She is survived by her husband of over 67 years, J. H. “Jay” Kinsey of Baytown; son, Robert E. Kinsey of New York City, NY; and daughter and son-in-law, Jean and John Lawrence and grandsons, J. Jay and Bobby Lawrence, all of Midland.
Elsie’s family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, May 15, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Joe Tate officiating. A private burial will follow at the Anahuac Cemetery in Anahuac.
In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2909 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, TX 77025 and/or Regency Hospice, 1610 James Bowie Dr. #B104, Baytown, TX 77520.
The Kinsey family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Elsie’s longtime friend and caregiver, Rose Wynne, for the special love and care shown her throughout her illness and Julia Morton and her staff at Remington Park for their dedication to Elsie.
