Emile "Smitty" Smith, 74, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 20, 1938, in Crowley Louisiana. Smitty moved to Baytown, at the age of 18. He worked for Goose Creek ISD for 30 years. He was a member of the Baytown Area Rock and Mineral Club and past president. He was a member of the Goose Creek Lodge 1192, a Baytown Shriner and a Houston Scottish Rite, and a Past Master Mason, a member of a bowling league. He enjoyed being outside working in his garden and going fishing. He traveled to many states looking for rocks, this was his passion. He was very well known for his work with rocks. He also loved traveling to watch his granddaughter Leah play softball.
He was preceded in death by his parents Neil & Doris Smith, sisters Beverly Edelman & Peggy Parsons, brothers Ebert & Leon Smith, stepdaughter Nelda Boodell Brahm, step granddaughter Debbie Hale Foster, step great-grandson Joshua Michael Benson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Zella, sister Mollie Schexnider & husband Butch of Crowley La, brothers Tim Smith & wife Sue of Ashland, VA, & Tom Smith & wife Sandy of Hutchinson, Ks. Stepsons Albert Butch Boodell & wife Glenda of Mont Belvieu TX, Ronnie Boodell & wife Cathy, Troy Boodell & wife Shelia of Baytown, TX , stepdaughters Zena Boodell Hale & husband Delbert of Mont Belvieu TX, Diana Boodell Frankeny & husband Richard of Cedar Park, TX, Helen Boodell Naismith & husband David, Sandra Boodell Garcia & husband Robert of Baytown, TX, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 15, 2013, at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8: 00 pm, for family and friends. Services will be Wednesday, at 2:00 pm, at Earthman’s Funeral Home, with Pastor Danny Biddy officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brian & Spence Naismith, Chad & Brad Trousdale, Kenny Boodell, and Troy Jason Boodell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Frankeny, Scott Hale and Brady Boodell, Mike Kingston, Steve McCaleb, and Ron Talhelm.
He will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens in Baytown Texas.
