Ernest D. Haney, Jr., 88, of Baytown was born December 17, 1925, in Mexia and passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, at his home. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and retired from Exxon Refining with 40 years of service. He was a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest, Sr. and Janie LaVert Haney; brother, Joe Haney; and wife of almost 61 years, Jean Humphrey Haney. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Rhonda Haney of Pasadena; daughters and sons-in-law, Stuart and Steve Summers of Aurora, Rhonda and Rick Butcher of Pflugerville, Nancy Haney of Baytown, and Laura and Greg McClellan of Baytown; sister, Polly Haney of Baytown; brother and sister-in-law, Byron and Helen Haney of Baytown; grandchildren, Stephanie and Jason Hughes, Stephen and Jill Summers, Susan and Ryan Ogden, Dustin and Jennifer Haney, Sara Haney, Wesley and Emily Haney, Amanda and Cameron Brown, Herb, and Shelby Butcher, and Jenny and Julia McClellan; and great grandchildren, Caleb, Carter, and Ella Hughes, Shepherd and Hannah Summers, Ellie Cate, Eden, and Lydia Ogden, Denim, Hudson, and Flynn Haney; and Leenah McClellan.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, September12, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Memorial Baptist Church, 600 W. Sterling Ave., Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons-in-law.
