She was blessed with a large extended family of great nieces and nephews and their children as well as many friends.
Evelyn was born on January 20, 1917 in Fayetteville, Texas and moved to Baytown when she was 9 years old. She married Babe Badgley in 1937, and they began a life together filled with love, family and travel. She was the registrar at Robert E. Lee High school for 39 years and touched the lives of many students during that time. Years after their graduation, former students continued to greet her and share their stories of their years at Lee.
Once they retired, Evelyn and Babe spent their summers at their second home in Haines, Alaska enjoying its beauty and the people that live there. Many friends came to visit, catch and enjoy fresh salmon, halibut and crab. After Babe passed away, she continued to spend her summers there visiting Al and his family. While in Haines, she volunteered at the Sheldon Museum, and she always prepared her famous baked beans for the Haines Fire Department annual Fourth of July barbeque.
She also traveled to many locations around the world. One trip that was very special to her was a tour of South East Asia. She visited Thailand and Burma and saw the area where Babe was stationed during World War II.
Her biggest joy and sense of pride were her family and friends, but she also had many other interests that she pursued for years. At the time of her death she was one of the longest standing members of St. Mark's Methodist church. She was an active member of the Eastern Stars and the Pilot Club of Baytown and held several offices in both organizations. She loved to play bridge, work puzzles and crochet. All of the babies in the family received beautiful crocheted blankets from her.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to her doctors, Dr. Sarti and Dr. Challa for providing excellent and thoughtful medical care for many years. In addition we thank the wonderful staff at Remington Park for their assistance and care over the past years. We also greatly appreciate the staff of Faith Hospice who cared for her during the past few weeks.
