We lived across the street from Fay and children on Holbrook,Ponca City. She taught our girls tap dancing and an excellant teacher and wonderful neighbor. We just moved here from Rockport,Tx and did not know she was at Baytown.We send our thoughts and prayers to Fay's family.  Ann,Paul,Kim and Cheryl

To Fay Prater's family, you have my deepest condolences. My eyes are filled with tears as I'm writing this. 

In 1993, I was a student of Fay's at the age of 16. The studio was located in Tulsa at 61st and Mingo.  

I was a student for a little over a year, but in that time I learned so much from this amazing lady. Her teachings went well beyond those of just dance, she taught me courage, confidence, and patience as well. She had such creativity and charisma. 

I wanted to remain a student, but money was tight at the time, which broke my heart. It broke my heart all over again to hear of her passing. 

Fay was an inspiration, a rare talent, and an absolute gem. I was so fortunate to have a role model like her to look up to in my life. 

I will miss her greatly as I have over the years. Though, my memories of Fay are rekindled and instilled in my heart through the pictures, programs, and costumes I saved from all those years ago. 

Again, I am truly sorry for your  family's loss, and I will keep you all in my prayers. 

I imagine Fay is dancing around on a beautiful cloud...somewhere out there.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. I took tap from her from grade school all the way through high school in Ponca  City. She was one of the most creative and talented people I have ever met. I fondly remember the years of lessons, recitals and yes--even the Friday night tap dancing in costume at the local nursing homes! I recall how she could pencil draw a design for a  costume and supply you with the fabric and how great the costumes all looked when complete. 
At the age of 51 I have recently started taking an adult tap class and often wondered where Fay was and how she was doing. I would love to have her teaching my class now! I wish I could have let her know how much I enjoyed having her as my teacher all those years.

I was one of her dance students in Ponca City from about ages 3-8.  When she moved away, we no longer took dance, as my mother felt no one else could measure up.  I have lots of photos of dance costumes and recitals and even though I was so young, I have fond memories of walking into her studio and looking at all of the dance photos she had up on the wall.
