Fermin Mendez, 69, of Baytown, TX, passed away Feb. 17, 2022. He was born in San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Mexico on Nov. 25, 1952 to Apolinar Mendez and Regina Lara. He was married to Leticia Mendez for 30 years.
He was a devout Catholic and regularly attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He had a passion for woodworking and spent his time in retirement building all sorts of furniture and decorations. He also enjoyed gardening along with his wife, and their dog Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Apolinar Mendez and Regina Lara, his godparents, Jose Guadalupe Hernandez and Concepcion Martinez, and his brother, Jose Mendez.
He is survived by his wife (Leticia Mendez), sons (Juan, Joel, and Jose Guadalupe Mendez), siblings (Carmen Villanueva, Vicente Mendez, Francisca Rodriguez, Rufino Mendez, Eustolio Mendez, Aurora Perez, Maria Isabel Perez, Victor Mendez, Jesus Mendez, and Enedina Huerta). As well as Maria de Jesus Hernandez, Martin Hernandez, and countless of cousins, nephews, and nieces that he adored.
The family will receive guests for Fermin on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. A rosary will occur Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 6:00 PM, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. A celebration of life service will occur Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1124 Beech Street, Baytown, Texas 77520. A committal service will occur Friday, February 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521.
