Floyd Orr

September 22, 1959June 17, 2013

Floyd Charles Orr, Jr. passed away on June 17, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He kept his faith until the end, never once complaining or questioning God. He was born on September 22, 1959 in Perryton, TX. Charlie graduated from Ross S. Sterling High School where he was a member of the swimming and water polo team. He married his high school sweetheart, Sherry Ellis on September 24, 1989. He was a technician for American and European Tanning Supply for the past 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Orr and Peggy Davis and a brother, Steven Orr. He is survived by his wife Sherry Orr, of Baytown; daughter Shanna Orr, of Baytown; brother David Orr and wife Jan, of Port Angeles, WA; nephew Payden Orr, of Port Angeles, WA; niece Natalie Orr of Port Angeles, WA; and niece Candace Orr, of Baytown. He leaves behind many very close friends who he called “brother”. He was called “Uncle Charlie” by many children who weren’t directly related. Charlie was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He loved spending time with his family and friends living each day to the fullest. He enjoyed teaching Shanna and her friends how to swim, shoot pellet guns, make hand carved bows and arrows and how to make primitive fire. Charlie loved cheering for Shanna and the RSS Rangers at swim meets and water polo tournaments. He also loved riding Shanna’s horse, Red Chief. Charlie loved to play the guitar and sing and with friends. Many evenings were spent playing music around campfires or sitting in with the band. He was a true adventurer and outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, canoe trips, and exploring the wilderness. Big Bend was Charlie’s favorite place to hike with family and friends. He once rode his custom built bicycle all the way to Big Bend with a friend. Charlie was so talented and could do almost anything. He built several custom bicycles and was always inventing things. Charlie was always there to lend a hand to those in need. He touched so many lives with his giving heart and kindness. He knew the bible and was not afraid to tell a stranger about Jesus. He helped the needy and donated to many missions around the world. Charlie was a giver. He will be sorely missed by all.
