Frances Oneta Brown Walters, 96, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. She was born in Liberty County, Texas, on June 14, 1929, to the late Joe and Clara Butler Street. Frances was devoted to her faith in God and was a dedicated member of Coady Baptist Church and Missouri Street Church of Christ for many years.
In 1946, Frances married the love of her life, Clayton Brown. Together they had three children whom they adored. In her younger years, she helped Clayton tend to the livestock on their ranch in Buffalo. She was her boys’ biggest fan when they were out on the dirt tracks racing, and her home was always a welcome mat for all their friends. If you walked through her door, you were family — and you never left hungry. She prepared the biggest pots of beans and sausage with a skillet of golden cornbread that fed anyone who stopped by. Her homemade chocolate pies and banana puddings were the best you’d ever tasted, and her every-Sunday-morning fried pancakes with their perfectly crunchy edges will forever be craved by her grandchildren.
Frances enjoyed many hobbies, including cross-stitching and embroidery. She often made baby blankets and donated them to local churches. She loved playing dominoes and cards with her grandchildren and spent many cherished days with her friends at the Senior Citizen’s Hall.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clayton Brown; her second husband, Gordon Walters; her daughter, Linda Frances Brown; and her numerous siblings.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons Larry Brown and wife Naomi and Wayne Brown and wife Cindy; her grandchildren Shelley Busby and husband David, Julie Davis and husband Nick, Michael Brown, Josh Brown and wife Tennille, Dustin Brown and wife Stephanie, Casey Brown and partner Clarissa, Kyle Brown and partner Meagan, and Chase Brown and fiancée Kristen; her 16 great-grandchildren; her 6 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Vida Rea Standley; her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Memory Care Suites for their compassion, kindness, and the dignity they extended to Frances during her time in their care.
Visitation will be held at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas, on Tuesday, February 24, from 5:00–8:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 25, at 10:00 AM at Earthman Funeral Home, with David Smith officiating, followed by a 2:00 PM graveside service at Petree Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas, where her son Larry will guide her home to rest.
