Frances Laverne Wells left this world to be with her heavenly father on Sunday November 4, 2018. She passed from her earthly journey in peace after fighting the good fight. Laverne was the ultimate caregiver, always putting others before herself.
Laverne was born in Baytown, Texas November 28th, 1932 and lived in Baytown virtually all of her life. After graduating from Robert E. Lee class of 1950, she married Lucius Odell Wells. Together they lived, worked, and raised their family. Laverne and Odell were married for 68 years.
Laverne worked until retirement at what was known as U.S.I. chemical company. When her youngest son, Ken was injured in a swimming accident and became paralyzed she and Odell cared for Ken at home for 32 years, all the while keeping a full time job and managing all the regular things in life. This is a testament to the character of this one of a kind woman.
Laverne was known by many names and roles- wife, mom, grandmother, maw-maw, great grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, co-worker and Aunt Laverne to Ken’s friends. Laverne was a member of Second Baptist Church in Baytown.
She is survived by her husband Lucius Odell Wells, son Walter Lane Wells, daughter Ola Kay Donner, Daughter-n-law Karen Wells, Son-n-law Ted Donner, Grandchildren Marc and wife Megan Donner, Sean and Hannah Wells, Great grandchildren Harper, Calin and Ian Wells, Brother Jack Gardner, Sister-n-law Lilian Gardner, multiple nieces and nephews, and adopted daughter Olenka Najar.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Mildred Gardner, son Ken Wells, and Sister Maxine Milligan.
