He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Angelica of Baytown, TX.
He is survived by his 3 children, daughter, Delia and husband Jose Covarrubias of Channelview, TX, Patricia A. Michael of Baytown, TX; son Joe R. Monaghan Sr. of Baytown, TX; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
After serving honorably in the United States Army, he worked for Exxon Mobile as a seaman for over 30 years. His family and friends will always remember him as "PoPo" a generous and loving family man.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:00am with a visitation beginning at 9:00am at Earthman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park, Houston, TX.
