Mr. Genaro Martinez, 84, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Jesus said to him, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
He was born on January 12, 1942, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Genaro and Rosa Martinez. Genaro was a man of deep faith who placed God and family at the center of his life. He was born and raised in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. There he met and married his beloved wife, Mercedes Martinez, and together they built a home filled with love, prayer, and devotion. The Lord blessed them with five daughters and two sons, 27 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, with 3 more great-great-grandchildren on the way.
He worked as a boilermaker for Brown & Root for over 40 years, providing for his family with humility and dedication. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, especially barbecuing, gathering everyone together, and playing poker on Friday nights. He also enjoyed shopping and hunting, but most of all, he loved to read his Bible. His laughter, his stories, his faith, and his steady presence were a gift from God to all who knew him.
Genaro was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mercedes Martinez; his daughters San Juanita and Norma; his granddaughter Jocelynn; and his grandsons Francisco, Angel, and Joseph. We take comfort in believing they are reunited in the presence of the Lord. He is survived by his daughters Dora and her husband Alfonso Cavazos, Laura and her husband Gilbert Estrada, and Nora and her husband Javier Castillo; his sons Genaro and his wife Maria Martinez, and Cesar and his wife Letty Martinez; along with his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory and his faith in their hearts.
