Graydona Delores Barry
January 23, 1932 – April 23, 2021
Graydona Dolores Barry, 89, of Baytown Texas, passed away on April 23, 2021. She was born in Bay City, Texas on January 23, 1932 to Crystal Inez Plummer and August A. Marquer. She was married to Patrick James Barry.
Graydona worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for years before marrying Patrick James Barry on November 26, 1959.
Graydona grew up on the family farm on Galveston Island where she enjoyed horseback riding and rounding up cows with the neighbors. She often enjoyed hunting and fishing with the neighbor boys. After getting married, she gave up her work career to start a family and raise her kids. When her daughters joined the Girl Scouts, she enjoyed being a scout leader, and then when her son became a Boy Scout, of course she became a Den Mother and lent a helping hand there. As the kids started school, she became a member of the PTA and helped with their events. She also had a passion for horses, travel, camping, and hiking. She always enjoyed spending time at “The Farm” either sitting on the porch, picking up sticks, or going for a walk to the front gate.
She is preceded in death by her sister Mrs. Lore Ray Healy of Galveston, Tx, her brothers Oliver Foreman, Joseph Marquer, August P. Marquer, Charles H. Marquer, Alcide J. Marquer, and Eugene D. Marquer. She is survived by her kids, Diane Karen Barry Roder of St. John, Texas, Susan Lynn Poulter of San Antonio, Texas, Paul Daniel Barry, and Leigh Ann Flowers of Baytown, Texas. Granddaughters, Andrea Prichett of Houston, Texas, and Shelby Flowers of Baytown, Texas, as well as Grandson Patrick Flowers of Baytown, Texas.
She was always a delight to all who knew her, with her positive attitude, smile, on her face, and easy-going ways. We will all miss her but know she is in a better place.
