

Ms. Harriet Day of Baytown entered her eternal rest May 17, 2008, at her home in Baytown after a courageous battle with cancer. Ms. Day was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Harry K. Johnson, Jr. of Highlands, and granddaughter of the founder of the town of Highlands, Harry K Johnson Sr.
Ms. Day was born in Baytown on November 30, 1946, and grew up in Highlands. Ms. Day was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School where she was an active member of the band and held the position of twirler. She was a Distinguished Scholar and graduate of Lee College. She had been active in community affairs being a Den Mother, and former Service League member. She was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Baytown where she had served as a sponsor for the EYC and was, at one time, active in the healing ministry there. Ms. Day was a loyal employee of ExxonMobil for twenty years as an administrative assistant. Her talents as a gourmet cook and baker were also appreciated by her Exxon friends and colleagues for birthdays and special occasions.
Ms. Day is survived by her two children and daughter-in-law: Ms. Stephanie Day, Mr. Stephen Day and wife, Robin. She has one grandson, Tyler Christopher Day. She is survived also by two sisters and a brother: Mrs. Jacquelin ""Dede"" Kellam of Fredericksburg, Mrs. Ada Ganze of Baytown, and Mr. Harry K. Johnson III of Katy.
Ms. Day will be greatly missed by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as other family, friends, and neighbors. She was a loving, caring person, and a joy to each and everyone who knew her. Her cheerful smile and happy disposition brought happiness every time she entered the room. Her belief in God was steadfast and an inspiration to all.
Pallbearers will be her nephews Mr. Josh Kellam and Mr. David Kellam; cousins Mr. David Choate, Mr. Douglas Choate, and Mr. Duane Choate; and family friend Mr. Brandon Buehring.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services which will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 5010 N. Main Street in Baytown, on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. Internment will be at San Jacinto Memorial Cemetery, 14659 I-10 E. Freeway, Houston. Visitation will be held at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive in Baytown on Tuesday, May 20, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
