Helen Caver Jacobs, 88, of Highlands, Texas went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2016. Helen was born on April 9, 1928 in Crosby, Texas. Helen volunteered for many years at Baytown Medical Center, and read to the blind at nursing homes. Helen was a longtime member of Highlands First Assembly of God Church and attended First Baptist Highlands. Helen’s faith in God was the most important thing in her life. She relied on that faith to help her through the difficult times and rejoice in the good ones. Second only to Helen’s faith was her profound love for her family – the love of her life, Pnut, to whom she was married nearly 64 years, their four children, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Helen loved children, angels, butterflies, and all things beautiful. Helen was a wonderful cook, and at one time, she and her sister Inez owned and operated the Gingham Kitchen Pie Shop in Highlands. Helen enjoyed people, and made everyone feel welcome in her home and at her table. She was in her element with a house full of company. It was Helen’s desire to excel at anything she did – from the smallest item to the largest. Helen was a good listener and a confidant to many people. She had tiny shoulders, but they were strong. Helen was also funny – she had a sharp wit that she never lost. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, William Caver and Vera Davenport Caver; sisters, Ivy Henderson, Inez Cowley, Alvis Faubion, Eleanor McNatt, and Nell Sellers; brothers, Billy Caver and Tommy Caver; and son-in-law, Kennan Smith. Helen is survived by her husband of 63 years, H. L. “Pnut” Jacobs; daughters, Linda Jacobs Smith, Rhonda Jacobs Vaughan and husband John Vaughan, and Terri Jacobs; son Donnie Jacobs and wife Kim; grandchildren; Brittany Curbow (Cody), Rachel Vaughan, Elizabeth Vaughan, Schaey Jacobs, Jacob Remaly, Jamie Remaly and fiancé Gavie Valero, Alexis Jacobs, Natalie Jacobs, Ashley Remaly; great-grandchildren, Madison Estep, Makenzie Estep, and Hunter McClung; sisters Doris Davis and Ruth Davis; brother, Dale Caver; sisters-in-law Anna Autin, Bobbie Caver, and Evelyn Jewel Hardeman; brother-in-law Rudy Jacobs and wife Maggie; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Maxine Hales, Frances Henderson, Molly Stutts, and Nancy Edwards. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jacob Remaly, John Vaughan, Jamie Remaly, Milton Sellers, James Walker, and Bob Henderson.
