Over his 40+ year career in the banking industry, Clay held various positions at Harris County Savings & Loan, and Citizens Bank. Shortly after his 70th birthday, Clay retired from Amegy Bank in Houston. Clay had many proud achievements in his life, but one he held near and dear was his ""Hole in One"" he made playing his favorite sport, golf. Clay took up the game at an early age with his Father, and always walked the course sometimes taking on the challenge of playing 27 holes in one day. Throughout his battle with brain cancer, Clay remained optimistic and tried to live each day with a positive attitude. His sister, Sarah, tended to Clay caringly since his diagnosis. Clay was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Henry Clay Swain Sr. and Mother, Alice Entrop Swain. Clay is survived by his sister, Sarah Swain Cryer and husband Robert D. Cryer, nieces and nephews, Christopher D. Cryer, Lorie Cryer, Misty Johnson and husband Bryan; great niece and nephew, Ella and Jace Johnson.
Family would like to recognize a dear family friend, George Ward, who was a special part of Clay's life in his remaining months.
