Hilari and her family were my next door neighbors growing up on Olive Street. I have such fond memories of climbing trees, swimming, and playing in each other’s backyards together. Hilari was one of my first friends and a special part of my childhood.

George, Becky, Josh, Nana, Papaw, and family, you are all in my prayers. Hilari was such a kind soul and always ready to share a laugh. I have so many good memories of spending time with her and being at your house, the way that you made anyone who came in the door feel like family. I know there are many others like me whose lives all of you have touched. My heart is so heavy. There just aren’t words adequate for the depth of your pain. I pray that God would grant you grace to carry you through each moment, and that through His Spirit He would hold you ever so close. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

The service today honored Hilari and acknowledged the special girl that she was to everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed. It was comforting to know how many memories they have to remember her by. It was obvious that her short life was filled with life, love, and fun times with her family and friends.

Hilari was such a kindhearted soul. So compassionate and understanding of others, with a great sense of humor, and non-judgemental. I cherish that she is a part of my childhood memories at Grace. She always treated me as an equal peer, even when we were quite young. This is exceptional, because children generally have a way of acting superior to younger children, but that was never in her nature. She was always full of smiles and concern for others. I know she was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. I will continue to keep the family in my prayers in the months and years to come.

I have so many fond memories of Hilari from Grace UMC youth group and Celebration Singers choir tour. She was a big part of our fun group of girls and always fun to visit with. In our recent days, I loved reminiscing with her about her 80s posts and her son Ethan, who is about the same age as my youngest. She had such a sweet heart and gentle spirit and will be missed by all that loved her.
