

Homer M. Mariner, 81, of Crosby, formerly Conroe, was born November 3, 1926 in Lockridge and went to be with his Lord on Monday, April 28, 2008 in a Houston hospital. He attended Crosby Church and was a U. S. Navy WWII veteran and a member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192, the Scottish Rite, the Houston Shrine Club and the NRA. He retired from Houston Exploration Company and enjoyed building things with his hands, gardening, and hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Ruth Mariner; brother, Wilbur Mariner; and daughter-in-law, Betty Mariner. He is survived by his wife, Mable Mariner of Crosby; son, Clinton Mariner of Willis; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Dwayne Elliott of Mont Belvieu and Linda Sue and Ray Reams and Robin Hues, all of Tarkington Prairie; beloved stepdaughter and her husband, Linda and George Theobald of Crosby; stepdaughter, Barbara Brumfield of Baytown; stepsons, Don Austin of Lakewood, CO and Henry Austin of Commerce; brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Rosemary Mariner of Van Fleet; sister and brother-in-law, Jesse Mae and Richard Johnson of Missouri; and 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be George Theobald, Cameron Mulkey, Hiram Mariner, Dean Burns and Chris Sears. Lawrence Mariner will be a honorary pallbearer.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, May 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Pastor John Satherly and Rosemary Mariner officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
