Irene L. Ashwood

Irene L. Ashwood, 86, of Baytown was born July 2, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN and passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in a local healthcare facility. She was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church and the Cedar Bayou Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #11.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Jacobson and Sarah Hightower; brothers, Paul Jacobson and Clarence Jacobson; and sisters, Alice Jacobson, Vera Reavis, and Margaret Hartzog. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gordon Ashwood of Baytown; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Beverly Ashwood of The Colony; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Kent Pound of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Col. Greg Pound, US Air Force and wife, Sherie of Hickam Air Force Base, HI, Karen Pound of Washington, DC, Laura and Kevin Rupejko and Neil Pound, all of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jacob Ashwood and Zachary Ashwood, both of The Colony; and 5 great grandchildren.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, 3116 N. Alexander Dr., Baytown, TX 77520. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Ashwood, Jacob Ashwood, Zachary Ashwood, Neil Pound, Kent Pound, and C. G. ""Charles"" Swick.
