
Jack Picon, Jr., 73, of Lubbock, TX died on February 10, 2012 in Houston, TX after a brief illness. He was born on February 20, 1938 in Burlington, TX to Candelario and Josefina Picon. He was the youngest of six children. He married Amabilia Estrada on January 11, 1964 in Lubbock, TX. He was a graduate of Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1961. For the twenty years prior to his retirement he worked as a judge for the Texas Industrial Accident Board. He considered it an honor to have served the people of Texas in this capacity. He was an avid golfer, a military history buff and a diehard Texas Tech Red Raider fan. His passion was to spend time with family, his wife, daughters and four grandchildren. He was a life-long Roman Catholic and a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Picon of Lubbock, TX, his daughter, Maragaret Hernandez and her husband Frank Hernandez of College Station, TX, his daughter Amy Norton and husband Chad Norton of Alexandria, LA; his grandchildren, Bianca Hernandez, Steven Hernandez, Alex Norton and Jack Thomas (J.T.) Norton; siblings, Virginia Gutierrez of Lubbock, TX, Jose Picon of Lubbock, TX, Rita Picon of Lubbock, TX, Janie Rodriguez of Lubbock, TX and Roman Picon of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by a large and loving extended family and friends.
