

James Harold Billings, 86 years old, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 25, 2010. He was born in Atlanta, Louisiana on February 9, 1924 and resided in Baytown for 69 years. He retired from Exxon and was an Army WWII veteran. He was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church for 69 years. He was also a member of Texas Baptist Men ""Building for the Glory of God"", Texas Hill Country Airstream Unit, National Airstream Club, Camp Branch Owners Association, Exxon Retirees Club, Memorial Baptist Board of Deacons.
Harold was a loving husband and father, who was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Bertha Billings.
Survivors include his wife, Doris King Billings; 3 daughters and son-in-laws, Jan and Gary Cobb, Gayle and Wendell Romans, Carol and William Thiele; 5 grandchildren, Stephen and wife Brook Romans, Kimberly and husband Andrew Ellis, Ashlee Cobb, Jennifer Cobb, Ted and wife Laura Beth Thiele; 2 great grandchildren, Tyler Romans and Sam Thiele. Also 2 sisters, Doris Sturrock and Marjorie Goodwin and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm. A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Building Fund at Memorial Baptist Church, 600 W. Sterling Ave., Baytown, TX 77520. The family wishes to give special thanks to Brad Hoffmann and the ministerial staff of Memorial Baptist, the staff at Remington Park and the Hospice Care Team for their care and devotion to Harold during his illness.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Harold's son-in-laws, grandchildren and Sunday School Class.
