James left Brenham at the age of 9, and moved to Houston, with his parents. In November of 1974, he relocated to Beach City, where he remained until his passing.
James made his career in the electrical industry. He worked for Summers Electric, in Houston for eighteen years. James worked his way up from a truck driver to outside sales. He then went into business for himself. James opened Tri City Supply INC where he was the sole owner.
James was fondly known as Santa Claus in numerous bars around Baytown because of his generous tips to the barmaids and waitresses, as it was always $100.00.
James was a political activist and was involved in every Baytown Council and Mayoral Election since 1999. He was also involved in some GCCISD, Lee College and Beach City elections. His involvement in the City of Baytown elections had major impact on city government in Baytown and Lee College.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and his late wife Barbara Haarmeyer. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his beloved significant other and the love of his life Gloria Bashrum, whom he has been with since 1989; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, TX 77521. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.
