

James Randall “Pete” Oliver, 67, of Mont Belvieu, TX passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006 in Baytown. He was born November 23, 1938 in Baytown (Pelly) to Will and Mildred McMicken Oliver. Pete attended Robert E. Lee High School in the mid 1950’s. His marriage to Katherine Herrin Oliver in 1961 produced two children and a lifelong friendship. He lived most of his adult life in Mont Belvieu and was self-employed. In his lifetime, he owned and operated two service stations, a wrecker service, and invested in land. He continued to buy and sell land, enjoyed doing title work on property, taking care of rental property, working on pipeline negotiations, and caring for a small herd of cattle on Barbers Hill until the end of his life.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Dyer, Bryant Dyer, Brent Thibodaux, Ben Campbell, Doug Going, and Calvin Inman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Oliver and is survived by his father, Will Oliver of Baytown; sister, Fran Mandell of San Antonio; spouse of four years, Dawnette Koonce Oliver, daughter, Briget Oliver Redmon, and son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Karen Oliver, all of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Jeanette Redmon and Dean, Patricia, Tifani, and Randy Oliver; and five great grandchildren.
