Janice Lee Hudman

Janice Hudman, 85, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, friendship, and service. She was born September 18, 1941 to the late Euel and Velma Johnson.

Janice was a devout Christian and faithful servant of the Lord. A longtime member of Pruett and Lobit Church of Christ, her faith was at the heart of the way she lived her life. That faith carried her through life’s challenges, including her battle with breast cancer, which she faced with great strength, courage, and perseverance.

Throughout much of her career, she worked as an office manager for Dr. David Trant, where caring for others came naturally to her.

She went on to volunteer countless hours at Methodist Hospital in Baytown, generously giving her time to help others and also serve her community. She carried that same heart for service into her time as a member of the Evening Pilot Club of Baytown, where she developed many treasured friendships. She loved spending time with her friends gathering around the table for a good game of canasta, conversation, and plenty of laughter.

Janice had a wonderful gift for making a house feel like home. She was a wonderful cook, and always had room for one more around her table. She loved decorating for every holiday, creating traditions and memories with her family.

To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was lovingly known as Mimi, a name she wore with great pride. Nothing brought her more joy than time spent surrounded by those she loved most. And, of course, there was Bella, her beloved dog and companion, who held an especially dear place in her heart.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Euel and Velma Johnson; her brother, James Johnson; Wilford Gardner, her husband and the father of her children; her beloved husband of 35 years, Bevie C. Hudman; and his daughter, Windy Lyle.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Melode Monk, and her husband, Monte. Her children and their spouses: Greg and Melinda Gardner, Gerald and Kelli Gardner, Galen and Kim Gardner, Ginger and Steve Salinas, Willie and Angie Hudman, and Connie and Deke Witt.

Mimi’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Heather Runge and husband, Eric; Cameron Gardner and wife, Lauren; Dalton Gardner and wife, Charlie; Lauren Griffis and husband, Cody; Brynna Newport and husband, Hudson; Darby Ausmus and husband Rainer; Cole Salinas and wife Jordan; Jeremy Salinas and wife, Kaylin; Kelsey Lyle; Connor Hudman and wife, Xeidy; Kaitlyn Rhodes and husband, Dusty; Matthew Monk and wife, Stefanie; and Meagan Monk.

She was further blessed with her great-grandchildren: Lennon, Maya, Riley, Blakely, Hadley, Brooks, Harper, Collins, Charlotte, Norah, Henry, Natalie, Grant, Sadie, Nova, Bodhi, Riley, Olive, and Mateo. Also survived by nephew, David Johnson and niece, Elizabeth Johnson McKay.

The family would also like to recognize Janice’s dear friend Louise, whose steadfast friendship, love, and support meant more to Janice than words can express.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Deisy, who cared for Janice over the last two years with kindness, compassion, and love. Her devoted care and companionship meant so much to Janice and her family.

The family and her fellow brothers and sisters in Christ rejoice knowing that Janice faithfully served God and others in this life. She now has peace and lives eternally with God our creator.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 am, Monday, October 5, 2026, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521, with the funeral service to begin at 10 am.

Committal will follow at Sterling-White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562.
