Jerome (Jerry) Joseph Licari, 69, passed away on September 21, 2017 at his home in Lufkin, TX. He was born on October 26, 1947 in Houston, TX and raised by his parents, Anthony and Lula Licari. Jerry grew up in Baytown, TX. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, TX in 1966. After high school, he attended Lee College in Baytown, TX. Then, Jerry joined the Marines and served for 4 years. He fought in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1975, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal. After returning from war, he worked several odd jobs until obtaining a position working for the City of Baytown. He worked his way up through the ranks and retired as the Superintendent of Streets and Drainage in 2003 after 29 years of service. Jerry married his best friend, Karen Lee Hanson, in 1976 in Baytown, TX. They were happily married for 41 years. Jerry was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served as a coach of the baseball team, President of the Congregation, and Head of the Elders. He was also a member of the Gideons. He enjoyed reading, watching and playing baseball, westerns, horses, and rescuing animals. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lula and Anthony Licari. He is survived by his spouse, Karen, of Baytown, TX; his brother Jimmy Caronna of Tomball, TX; his sons and daughter-in-laws, Brandon and Holley Licari of Baytown, TX; Rocky and Tammy Licari of Lufkin, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Gary Eppler of Baytown, TX; his grandchildren Andrew, Celeste, and Anthony; and his many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, TX 77521 at 2 pm on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. A visitation will be held an hour before the memorial service at the cemetery.
