Jesus (Jesse) Esequiel Gutierrez was 67 years old and born in Baytown on August 26, 1957 and passed away on Saturday November 23, 2024. He took his last breath on Earth surrounded by his loving family and his first eternal breath in Heaven greeted by his parents Ruben and Alice Gutierrez.
Jesse graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1975 and graduated from Lee College with two Associates degrees.
Jesse retired as a Detention Sergeant at the City of Baytown, Police Department on August 27, 2021. Jesse lived his retirement dream while working for his beloved Houston Astros as an usher, enjoying many playoff games and taking game selfies with family and friends.
Jesse was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where he taught CCE for 20 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served his community as a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Jesse enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Jesse loved dancing to Tejano and Country music and many will miss dancing with him. He loved watching sports, especially baseball, softball, and football. Go Astros and Houston Texans! He always looked forward to his next out-of-town trip traveling to different baseball fields to root for the Astros. In his younger days, Jesse played catcher for the Baytown Scorpions, fastpitch softball team, where he spent many weekends doing what he loved best…playing ball. He was an avid pool player and enjoyed coordinating pool tournaments all around Baytown.
Jesse will be remembered for his sense of humor and witty remarks and there was never a shortness of laughter when he was around. His one liners were that of legends and even given a name, “Jesse-isms”.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ruben and Alice Gutierrez of Baytown, his grandparents Julio and Demetria Sanchez, Frank and Adela Gutierrez, nephew Henry Gutierrez Jr., and brother-in-law Bootie Gonzales.
