

Jesse F. Stovall, Jr., 85, of Baytown was born December 17, 1926 in Hearne, TX and passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 surrounded by family at his home. He was a proud U. S. Marine Corps WWII veteran, having served in the Asiatic Pacific, Japan, and China. He retired from Exxon Chemicals in 1982 and Stubbs Overbeck and Associates in 1997. He was a longtime faithful member and deacon of Second Baptist Church and served as a member and trustee and chairman of various committees of The San Jacinto Baptist Association and was a member of the Baptist General Convention of Texas Executive Board from 1986-1991. He had also served the City of Baytown on the Adjustments and Appeals Board and the Electrical Board.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 62 years, Mary L. ""Johnnie"" Stovall; their only child, Joe D. Stovall; adopted grandson, Rick Hemminger; parents, Jesse F. and Ruth Scott Stovall; brother, William A. Stovall; and sisters, Rowena Bess Mahan and Betty Frank Herndon. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert M. and Betty Lee Stovall of Hearne; nephews and nieces and their families, Joe and Marie Mahan, Billy Wayne and Patricia Herndon, Holly Luttrell, Bob and Sharon Herndon, Mike Stovall, Jim and Patricia Stovall, Leslie Mahan, and Jim and Robbie Brown; and special people who brought him great joy and happiness throughout the years, Mary K. Hernandez, Dianne and Glen Porter, Teressa Stovall Rodriguez, Neil, Michelle, Rebecca, and Sydney Ferguson, Jessica, Craig, Jake, and Connor Hill, Marcia Rodriguez, John Govro, Cathy Govro, the Don Zimmerman family, and neighbors, Timothy and Emma Cooper and their parents.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 6227 North Main, Baytown, TX 77521 with Rev. Tommy Clements officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Herndon, Jim Herndon, Wayne Herndon, Mark Herndon, Landry Mahan, John Shackelford, and Robert Hodges. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Mahan, Billy Wayne Herndon, Bobby Herndon, Mike Stovall, Jim Stovall, Glen Porter, Marcus Luttrell, and Morgan Luttrell.
