He graduated with an associate degree from Panola Jr. College and went on to join the U.S. Army, where he proudly served two years while stationed in Germany. After the service Jesse moved to Houston, where he met and married his wife, Reba Lynn Minor. They soon moved to Baytown where they started their family and had their daughters.
Jesse began his career working for Gulf Oil and continued to work for the oil and gas industry for over thirty years until he retired from Targa at the age of 63. His happiest days were spent with family and friends. Jesse loved playing the piano, watching sports, and hunting when he was able. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as Paw Paw. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, and his faith was reflected in his daily actions of serving others. He will be deeply missed.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Georgia Taylor; his three brothers, Maurice, Roy and Bill Taylor, and his three sisters, Joyce Head, Deanna Hooker and Charlcie Turner. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lynn Taylor, and his two daughters Tami Farrington and husband Lucas of Richmond, and Jennifer Starr and husband Daryl of Baytown; his pride and joy, his four grandchildren, Jordan and Dylan Starr and Henrietta and River Farrington. He is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12 -1 pm, Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Second Baytown Church, 6227 N. Main St., Baytown, Texas 77521, with the memorial service to follow and begin at 1 pm.
