Joe Albert Strickland

Joe A. Strickland, 71, of Baytown, went to be with God on Thursday April 14, 2005. He was born in Jonesboro Arkansas on May 18, 1933. He served in the Army. He was a superintendent for Brown and Root. He greatly loved his family and friends and his little Muffin. He also loved family cookouts and tending to his garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Albertha Strickland; and brother, Bill Strickland; and grandson Casey Carter.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Flora L. Strickland; children, Larry Carlisle and wife Susan, Mike Carlisle and wife Nancy, and Susan Poe and husband Ed; sister, Patsy Tooley and husband Steve; grandchildren, Chris Carlisle, Brian Carlisle, Daniel Carlisle, David Carlisle; and 6 great grandchildren.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funereal Home, officiated by Rev. Tommy Clements. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Carlisle, Mike Carlisle, Chris Carlisle, Brian Carlisle, Ed Poe, and Charles Scarborough. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Luis Fraga and Clay Blasingane.
