John Duane Clark of Old River-Winfree passed away on April 7, 2014 in a Houston hospital. John was born January 25, 1954 to the late Kenneth and Joyce Grimes Clark. John had a very strong spirit of volunteerism which was reflected in both his professional and personal life. John served on the Mont Belvieu Volunteer Fire Department for over 16 years; he was Chief of the Old River-Winfree Volunteer Fire Department for 2 years and John was a Commander at the DuPont Chemical plant site for over 25 years. John, who received a double-lung transplant three years ago, also helped to lead the TMC Methodist Heart and Lung Transplant Group. He was very proud and fulfilled doing that. John enjoyed fishing and hunting but took most pleasure from working on cars and sharing his knowledge of them. He and his son would chat at length about cars and electronics. John was a Jack of All Trades and Master of them, too.
John was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Linda Miller Clark; his children and their spouses, David and Megan Clark and Sheryl Clark; step-children and their spouses, Katie and Tynell Addison and Tom Martino, Jr.; brothers, Edwin and Kenneth Clark; nephews, Shane and Jennifer Clark and Danny Clark and niece, Ashley Clark.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Eddie Norris will officiate.
