John Wesley Davenport

Wes was born 8-10-1926 to Jim and Dora Davenport in Vernon, Texas. Wes was preceded in death by Peggy, his wife of 65 years, one sister and four brothers.

Wes served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a sports enthusiast, and an awesome father and grandfather. One of his greatest fulfillments was being a devout Christian and being a member of First Baptist Church of Crosby for sixty years.

He is survived by two sons, Jim, and wife, Sharon; Tommy, and wife, Tanya; twin daughters, Cheryl Petroski, and husband Robert, and Carol Weselka, and husband Gary; three brothers, Travis, Bob, Billy and one sister Kitty Ann Roark; thirteen grand children, sixteen great grand children, and one great-great granddaughter.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Tuesday, August 2nd, at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, Crosby, at 10 AM, Wednesday, August 3rd, interment immediately following at Sterling-White Cemetery, Highlands, Texas.
