

He was a U. S. Navy WWII veteran, serving in the 4th Beach Battalion. He spent 40 years at Exxon and since his retirement he had stayed extremely busy. John loved the Lord and served him by example and service to others. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ, the Kiwanis of Baytown and Exxon Annuitant. He was very generous with his work with the church, visiting the sick and doing whatever needed to be done. He always looked forward to the annual Kiwanis Apple Sales. John also delivered the Meals on Wheels for seven years. He enjoyed working in his yard, working with tools, welding and was always helpful to his neighbors. He was always there to help someone. His favorite pastimes included reading and studying history and traveling to historical landmarks and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alton Partin, Lawson Partin, Lavelle Partin, Odell Partin, and Lester G. Partin; sister, DeLela Mae Hood. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vida Partin of Baytown; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki Partin and Ron Haynes of Todd, NC, Suzette and John Nolan of Naples, FL, Johnelle and Dale Mayfield of Baytown, Angela and Rick Heidt of Houston, and Maristella Partin of Clear Lake; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Glynn and Paulette Partin of Houston; grandchildren, Amanda Mitchell, Cameron Mitchell, Jonathan Heidt, Abigail Heidt, Terri Lee Partin and Robert Paul Partin and wife Andrea; great grandchildren, Kyle Partin and Reagan Partin.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Tony Mauck and Kris Emerson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike O'Sullivan, Tommy Partin, Bill Partin, Ron Haynes, Rick Heidt, John Nolan and Dale Mayfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Heidt, Cameron Mitchell and L. G. Partin.
