After high school, John served his country for 4 years in the United States Marine Corps. He was deployed to Vietnam and was honorably discharged in October of 1971. John worked as a boilermaker for Brown and Root and Shell Oil Company, and retired after a lengthy career from Shell Oil Company.
John enjoyed fishing, baseball, boating, and wood crafting. He also liked watching football, and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
John was preceded in death by parents Margaret Rennie Stilliana and Albert Rennie, and his stepfather Frank Stilliana. He is survived by wife of 35 years, June Rennie; sister Kathy Rennie Getchey and husband John Getchey; two daughters Tabitha Sue Williams and Mary Kay Carson and her husband Brian; stepdaughter Shelly Miller and stepson Keaven Sheridan; niece Megan Daley and her husband Mike; nephew John Getchey and wife Kristin.
He was a loving grandfather to Talon Sue Williams, Kyler Carson, and Kaiden Carson; step grandchildren Tiffany Shaffer and husband Garret, Rachel Dugat and husband Aaron Kyle Miller; step great-grandchildren Aubree Dugat, Kayden Shaffer, Adeline Dugat, Bryleigh Shaffer, and Eli Dugat.
John was a wonderful husband who loved his country and his family.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Navarre Funeral Home located at 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521 on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 AM with funeral services to be begin at 10:30 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
