John Randall Vercher, 93, of La Porte, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. He was born on August 29, 1933, in Campti, Louisiana, to the late Ellis Gilbert and Delphine Melissa Alexander Vercher. John proudly served his country in the United States Army. Afterwards, he made his career as an electrician in the industrial field.
John pursued many interests, some of which included his love for hunting and camping. In his younger days when the children were small, he also enjoyed going to the beach and traveling. In his spare time John could often be found outside working on a vehicle. He also found pleasure in the simple things in life like just staying home with his family while watching tv or sitting out on the porch. Above all, his greatest joy came from the precious time spent with his children and grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife June Fretwell; his second wife Ella Mae Vercher; his sisters Barbara Brown and Norma Williams; and his brother Teddy Vercher. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his wife Shirley Valentine; his children Jefferey Vercher, Lynn Jones and husband Pat, Theresa Clayton and husband Llyod, and James Hanson and wife Cindy; his numerous grandchildren; his many great-grandchildren; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
