It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Gregory Drewnowski, who passed away on September 1st, 2024 with his family by his side, at the age of 75.
Joseph Drewnowski was born on May 6th, 1949, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to the late Walter Drewnowski and Ann Lazzaretti Drewnowski. He grew up in Sewickley (Bell Acres), PA where he graduated from Quaker Valley High School in 1967 and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971, earning a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. In High School, he met the love of his life, Marie Burzese Drewnowski and they were married on July 17th, 1971. This year they celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
After graduation, he worked several years for Pennsylvania Engineering Corporation and Dravo. Later, he joined Mobay Chemical Corporation (later Bayer) at the Pittsburgh Corporate Project Engineering Department starting as an Instrument and Controls Engineer, where he worked on Capitol projects for several production sites, including the chemical plant in Baytown, Texas.
In 1988, the family relocated to Baytown, Texas where they made their home. Joe worked at Bayer (Covestro) as the Superintendent of Process Control Technology, where he managed maintenance and engineering departments in various production units, before he retired in 2014 after 37 years of service. Joe and Marie traveled and cruised several times a year to explore different countries with family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and sitting by the pool watching his grandsons play. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, John Paul Council 7206, 3rd Degree Member.
Joe is survived by his wife, Marie Burzese Drewnowski, daughter, Jessica Drewnowski Thomas, son, Joseph Edward Drewnowski (Elizabeth) and three grandsons, Jacob Drewnowski, Austin and Anthony Thomas, sister Carol Pinkosky, and brother Robert Drewnowski (Marilyn). He was a brother-in-law to Robert and Joanne Burzese, Terry and Elaine Sechler, Barry and Diane Rotz and Alex and Amy Burzese and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Drewnowski and Ann Lazzaretti Drewnowski, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Robert and Angelina Burzese and his brother-in-law, David Pinkosky.
Visitation will be held on, Friday, September 6th, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 7th, at 10:30 AM at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church 800 W Baker Road, Baytown, Texas 77521.
