In the early morning hours of August 12, 2016, while the world slipped off to sleep, dreaming of faraway places and exotic adventures, Joyce Ann Kressley ventured to be with the Lord at the young age of 55 while at home in Baytown, Texas.
Joyce was born in Houston, Texas on the 8th day of May, on a warm sunny spring afternoon in the year of our Lord, 1961. She was the youngest daughter and the 11th of 13 children born to James Alexander Simmons and Ethel Mae Simmons.
Joyce could often be found on her front porch, sipping a warm cup of coffee or a cold drink and conversing with friends and neighbors about the day’s events and happenings. She was happiest when her house was filled with family, especially on holidays as she would bake for hours just for the littlest of smiles. To say that she had a large heart, caring and nurturing, would be a great understatement. From family to friends, to acquaintances and even the stray animal, Joyce had a compassionate heart. There was no one or anything she would turn away. Joyce’s pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Krystian and Katelyne and her two grand-dogs, Emma and Ethan, whom she loved very much.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents James and Ethel Simmons, 1 sister and 2 brothers, Kathleen Scott, Thomas Simmons, and Kenneth Simmons, 1 niece, Julie Niles, and her baby boy, Johnny Kressley. She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Conrad Roscoe Kressley, JR., her eldest son: Conrad Roscoe Kressley, lll and his daughters Krystian and Katelyne Kressley, her middle son: Jeremiah James Kressley and his wife Bincy Kressley and their fur-babies Emma and Ethan Kressley, her eldest sister, Martha Sawyer and husband Arthur Sawyer, older brother, Harry Simmons and wife Louise Smith, younger brother, Nathan Simmons, her beloved cat “Missy” and her many nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved her dearly.
