Katherine Williams, 83, longtime resident of Baytown, went to be with her Lord Sunday May 15, 2005. She was born in Creedmore, TX, March 25, 1922. She was a seamstress for Culpeppers Furniture Store and a salesperson for LaEva’s Dress Shop. She was also a homemaker, and a Christian, and a Charter member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ.
Katherine, who was best known as “Grandmother” by friends and relatives, loved her husband and family more than anything.
Her kitchen was her domain and she cooked meals known far and wide that were “fit for a King”. If you ever tried her fried shrimp, you know what I mean! Her pies and cakes were a special treat for anyone who knew her (even her prank cornstarch pies she made for special occasions).
She could sew almost as good as she cooked.
Mention the Frio River, and she would have the camping trailer packed and ready to go before you could blink an eye.
Her door was always open to her friends and family.
She loved her little dog Holly and treated that spoiled little pooch like a baby.
She would brag on her grandkids and especially her great grandkids as long as you would listen.
She loved God and served him all her life. She was a great example for us all.
She will be greatly missed but her influence will live on in all of us.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Claud Daniel Kaiser, and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Herschel Williams; children, Mylinda Pearl Bruce and husband Jack, Judith Sharon Kaiser and husband Don; grandchildren, Mike Bruce and wife Christine, Lana Torres and husband Darryl, Donnie Kaiser and wife Lori, Katherine Chapman and husband Mark; great grandchildren, Shelbea Harrington, Asia Harrington, Drew Torres, Olivia Bruce, Colton Kaiser, Karson Kaiser, Shae Chapman; and one brother Cleddie Etheredge and wife Elsie.
A private graveside service was held for her on Monday at Barbers Cemetery in Mont Belvieu.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Nigerian Mission Fund, C/O The Seventh Street Church of Christ, 504 Dwinnell St. Baytown, TX.
